MySQL server tuning, not an optional extra

MySQL's default settings are intended for minimal resource (RAM/disk) use, not performance and safety in production. Some of the commonly known sample configs ("my-huge.cnf") are hideously outdated: incomplete and in some cases even incorrect! Using these can actually cause more trouble.
There are a number of settings that you really need to know about when deploying MySQL or MariaDB. We'll discuss those in this session.
